Understanding of signaling pathways using optogenetic tools. Signaling pathways have a complex network-like structure. Optogenetic stimulation allows precise control of a protein of interest in both space and time. With a help of molecular probes that allow monitoring of protein activity, and mathematical modeling that predicts input activity of the optogenetic systems, deciphering of signaling pathways would be realized.
Molecular mechanisms of stress-induced synchronization of circadian clock. Circadian clocks are an endogenous timing system that oscillates with an approximately 24 hours cycle to regulate the daily behavior of living organisms, which is synchronized to environmental cues. We hypothesize that stress-inducible transcription factors play a key role in stress-mediated synchronization of circadian clocks, and analyzed their interplays using bioluminescent probes.
